Read Into My World Program
Purpose
This program helps educate youth about animal agriculture production.
March is National Ag Literacy Week: March 17-22 and National Agriculture Day: March 25th
We are asking you to read a book about agriculture to pre-school or elementary aged students. This is a very simple program and does not require a lot of extra preparation. Simply contact a teacher or a daycare provider (start with someone you know), select a book either from our suggested book list or a book you are familiar with, then go read! It's as easy as that.
The Minnesota CattleWomen Association is focusing on the book entitled "Our Star Goes West". Downloadable lesson plans are available at pabeef.org. There is also a sample classroom invitation letter, a tip sheet, and list of books available to help you get started. You can download them from the “Getting Started and Education” sections of this website. The book is available free from the Minnesota CattleWomen Association. Contact Diane Colombe at minnesotacattlewomen@gmail.com.
Anyone is welcome to participate in the program, whether you are a Cattlewoman,Cattleman, FFA member, 4-H member, college student, beef producer, dairy producer, or involved in agriculture in any way, we want you to tell your story by reading to pre-school or elementary aged students. This would be a great event to do with friends such as your FFA Chapter or 4-H group. For more information or questions, contact Diane at minnesotacattlewomen@gmail.com.
Anytime you can visit a classroom and talk about agriculture is great. Spending time reading a book and telling your story will make a lasting impression about the world of agriculture!
